A veteran with years of leadership experience in the U.S. Army, Tara has commanded teams, managed complex operations, and guided people through challenging environments. She brings that same steady leadership to farm life.

 

One day a lieutenant at work casually suggested she grow hops on her land. He made it sound so simple. She started researching — and quickly discovered hops farming is anything but simple. Still, she was instantly hooked. That single conversation sparked the creation of Hyggelig Hill Farms: a small, sustainable hops operation in northern Minnesota built on curiosity, hard work, and a lot of help from generous friends and fellow growers.

Today she leads the farm with the same commitment to excellence and teamwork she learned in uniform — growing hops, brewing community, and sharing the journey one season at a time.
